After putting real tires on my car the lack of chassis rigidity became very a pparent. The S30 chassis was not designed for modern 205 section tires. This thing is so well made I’m very impressed. I’m curious to see if I notice any difference.

205 doesn’t seem big but that is a tiny car.

You don’t need much with 150 HP and 2300 lbs.

I love mine, I have the full triangle. Between that and my change in suspension/wheels etc.. it feels a lot more solid and less flex in hard turns. I love the guys at T3, the shit just fits.

This is all I’m planning on doing. I’ve already replaced the struts and suspension bushings. If it wasn’t a 71 series 1 car I’d probably go all in with coil overs an such but I’m not going to race, I just want to enjoy my car.

Oh I thought it was a 70, I guess very early 71, mine is 6/71. I would never cut the car up either, maybe a 280. The Tokico shocks and Eibach lowering springs are great, are you are on stock springs? The combination of everything makes it pretty damn good. Before the T3 bar I could really feel it flex like it was lifting a wheel up in the air. I would never race it, we have curvy roads so I thought I might as well make it good.

It was built 10/70 but it’s a 71 model year and a real series 1 car. I know it’s a bit confusing.

Yeah I’ve seen the production time line, I think mine was built  earl y in 71 and some 70s are actually built in 69 etc...

My dads car is a 5/71 and it has t he updated chassis with glove boxes behind the seats and rear sway bar mounts. My car has neither.

Yeah, I call them smuggler compartments, they look so military. I found a box of NGK spark plugs way back in there, pretty cool 1970s box. I do like those compartments.

I really liked those glove boxes in my ‘73. The 71 has a larger space behind the seats for jamming stuff in like oil and lead additive, but that’s it. Those glove boxes are both useful and ste alth.

Yeah they were new to me when I bought it, I had no idea. The just look like some kind of access door on a military vehicle. If the smoke ever goes away I might do some sound mat and then stuff that space with some lightweight insulation of some kind to dampen the sound in there.
